As being member of Sketching and Landscape Club of Gujarat, we regularly go for sketching and landscaping in Ahmedabad and places near Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. This digital painting was done from one of those sketches of Ahmedabad Pol. This sketch was done on 15th August, 2012 at pol next to Mangaldas ni Haveli, Old Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
Software: Adobe Photoshop Cs4.
Below, The detailed process for digital painting.
The basic sketch was done by pencil on Cartridge paper (size A3). I have scanned that page and begin the process of digital painting with digital inking in another layer with Photoshop brush.
After finishing that I've added some extra elements which my mind used to observe and capture in memories while sketching in plain air. That always helps me to improve my composition and layout.
Next step, I usually paint black and white values for getting an idea of Light, Shadow and Visual Depth in the individual layer. During this b-w color fill process my mind starts visualizing for color scheme of the visual.
After having the basic idea of light-shadow n depth, I start Digital coloring in another layer. I do add some more darker colors and lighter colors in different layers, too.
Generally, I do separation of coloring in layers like Fore-ground, Middle-ground and Back-ground. By doing this you can actually get the proper idea for where do you want to focus of your subject in the visual.
When the basic coloring is finished I do add details, too.
Now, it's time to the final coloring at the finished level of the painting & to do additional color scheme changes, One can call that color correction,too....and this step always comes in different form..!
In this painting I have added blue color in shadow to show bounce light from the green wooden home's wall colors and the road colors, Plus It's a day light scene, so, there is a blue sky, too....and after adding that you can see, it's looking fairly beautiful with the depth of colorful shadows and details...!!
